Donner la parole (Giving a Voice) is a profound photographic and cinematic meditation on the relationship between language, land, and identity. Created for the exhibition “Native Land, Stop Eject” at the Fondation Cartier, Raymond Depardon travels across the globe to document communities whose native languages are threatened with extinction. Through a series of color Polaroids and poignant testimonies, the book captures the voices of the Afar, Yanomami, Quechua, and others as they express their deep attachment to their ancestral soil. It is a celebration of linguistic diversity and a record of cultural resistance against displacement and globalization.
