Working across swamps, marshes, bogs, bayous, baygalls, and fens—from Ossabaw Island, Georgia, to his home terrain of East Texas—he attends to a landscape often passed over or regarded as impenetrable. Dark water, suspended mist, and moss-laden trees give physical form to uncertainty.
