5 Continents Editions is an independent art-book publisher founded in Milan in February 2002 by Eric Ghysels. Its international programme brings together publications on the traditional arts of Africa, Asia, the Americas and Oceania with archaeology, modern and contemporary art, design, fashion and photography. Books are produced in collaboration with artists, scholars, museums and collections.

Its photography catalogue spans contemporary monographs, historical photography, exhibition catalogues and photographic studies of objects and places. Examples include Laura Veschi’s EverythingFlows, Jan Staller’s Manhattan Project, Omar Victor Diop, and Luigi Spina’s Canova: Four Tempos volumes. Paul Starosta’s books on shells and seeds connect close observation of nature with the visual presentation of form and structure.

Collectors should distinguish language editions and reissues: the catalogue often lists related titles under separate ISBNs and translated names. The publisher’s website now serves as a digital catalogue rather than an online checkout, directing purchases to booksellers. Publication date, language, binding and ISBN should therefore be checked on each title’s individual record.
