Hartmann Books is an independent publisher in Stuttgart, Germany, founded in 2016 by Angelika and Markus Hartmann, with Nadine Engler involved until the end of 2018. Its programme centres on photography and carefully designed photobooks, connecting visual art with architecture, history, politics and social questions. Each publication is developed with a form and layout suited to its subject. The publishing house grew out of Hartmann Projects, established in 2014 as an exhibition and artists’ agency, and received the German Publishers Award in 2021 and 2023.
