The Family
The Family is an ongoing series in which Samson rephotographed and manipulated archival snapshots of an unidentified family. By altering small details—color, cropping, and sequencing—he transforms private memory into a universal meditation on loss and the unreliability of photographic evidence. The project exhibits at galleries both as printed views and as interactive slide shows, and it was recognized for its conceptual approach to the vernacular image.

Half Awake
Half Awake is a series of studio-generated photographs that use miniature furniture and plastic figurines to recreate dream-like, ambiguous interiors. By photographing these constructed tablescapes, Samson blurs the boundary between reality and hallucination. The series was critically noted for its subtle commentary on the artificiality of photographic representation and the way domestic space can become a site of psychological unease.

Untitled #12 (from The Family)
This individual print from The Family series demonstrates Samson's method of intervening on found photographs. He lightly scraped and re-colored a portrait of a young woman, obscuring part of her face. This gesture makes the print a tangible object of memory rather than a transparent window. The photograph exemplifies his interest in how physical alteration can express the decay of recollection and the fragility of identity.
