Biography

Zhipeng Lin (b. 1979, China), also known as No.223, is a Chinese photographer and artist recognized for his diaristic, intimate images of youth, relationships, and contemporary life in China. His work emerged from online platforms in the early 2000s, where he began sharing personal photographs that captured a raw and unfiltered view of his surroundings.

Lin’s photographic style is characterized by saturated color, direct flash, and a sense of immediacy. His images often depict friends, lovers, and everyday moments, exploring themes of desire, vulnerability, and freedom. His work is frequently compared to Nan Goldin for its personal intensity and confessional tone.

His photobooks, including No.223 and Grand Amour, have been widely exhibited and collected internationally, marking him as a key figure in contemporary Chinese photography and global photobook culture.
