The first monograph from Ohio-born visual artist Brooke DiDonato, “Take a Picture, It Will Last Longer” is a curated collection of her singularly surreal photography. DiDonato’s work challenges expectations of how domestic and ordinary spaces can be occupied; torsos, legs, and arms contort into uncanny arrangements across sofas or disappear into white picket fences and cornfields. Inspired by her childhood in the American Midwest, the compositions evoke feelings of both nostalgia and psychological disorientation. The volume brings together her famous series “A House is Not a Home” alongside new works, accompanied by an introduction from Eleanor Sutherland and a personal interview with the artist’s father, Bob DiDonato, exploring the roots of her creative vision.
