Running Fence is a photography monograph by Canadian artist Gisèle Amantea, published to accompany her exhibition at the Presentation House Gallery. Amantea is renowned for her multidisciplinary approach, often creating large-scale installations that use “flock” and other decorative materials to investigate cultural memory and social hierarchy. This 48-page volume provides a visual record of her site-specific works, illustrating how she transforms ordinary architectural surfaces into rich, textured landscapes that challenge traditional notions of “good taste.” The book explores her recurring interest in the domestic sphere, the status of women, and the way vernacular objects can act as sites of political resistance.
