Taft Street is a seminal entry in Nazraeli Press’s acclaimed One Picture Book series (Volume 6). In this focused study, Todd Hido returns to the themes of his first monograph, “House Hunting,” by documenting a single suburban home on a ubiquitous street in Northern California. The book contains four color plates, each capturing the house during a different season, rendered in Hido’s signature style: nocturnal, eerie, yet strangely intimate. The soft glow of interior lights against the dark, often foggy exterior evokes a sense of domestic mystery and voyeurism.
As a hallmark of this series, each of the 500 numbered copies is signed by Hido and features an original signed silver gelatin print (a “tipped-in” C-print) attached to the inside back cover. The edition was divided into four variants (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) of 125 copies each, making complete sets exceptionally rare and sought after by photobook collectors worldwide.
