Sleep Creek is a collaborative photographic mythos by Dylan Hausthor and Paul Guilmoth, set in the shadowy, rural landscapes of the American Northeast. Moving beyond traditional documentary, the artists use high-contrast black-and-white photography to construct a world that feels both ancient and apocalyptic. The narrative is populated by isolated figures, ritualistic objects, and the wild, untamed flora and fauna of the New England woods. Through their lens, the landscape of “Sleep Creek” becomes a psychological space where the boundary between reality and hallucination dissolves. The book explores themes of isolation, survival, and the occult undercurrents of small-town life, presenting a vision of nature that is both beautiful and deeply unsettling. It is a story about the act of looking, and the secrets that reveal themselves only in the darkness.
