An expanded and updated version of Nan Goldin’s seminal book originally published in 1993. The Other Side is Goldin’s homage to her transgender and drag queen friends, documented over four decades. The collection traces the history of gender and sexual identity from 1970s Boston to the AIDS crisis in 1980s New York, and global drag scenes in Berlin and Bangkok during the 90s. This edition includes a new introduction by Goldin and, for the first time, the voices of the subjects themselves.
