Winter Light

Softcover paperback Italian, English 80 pages 26 × 19.5

Description

Winter Light by Riccardo Fregoso is published by Setanta Books in a first edition of 400 numbered copies. It is a softcover volume of 80 pages with 42 images, measuring 260 × 195 mm, with text by Francesco Pacifico translated into English by Stephen Piccolo. The edition is divided into two cover options, each limited to 200 copies, with a hand-painted PVC jacket and visible stitching distinguished by thread colour.

The book pairs Fregoso’s photographs with Pacifico’s writing. An extract from Pacifico’s text describes consciousness drifting through invisible worlds before embodiment, compressing and entering the earth — language that suggests the book’s concerns without describing the photographs directly. No further interpretive claims are supported by the available material, so the sequence itself and the relationship between images and text are best left to the reader.

The special edition with prints is documented separately: each print is from an edition of 20 numbered and stamped copies, accompanied by a signed artist label, printed on Hahnemühle Pearl paper at 20.5 × 18 cm including a white border. The publisher notes the special edition price increases by £25 for each five copies sold.

What the available evidence establishes is a coordinated object: a limited run, two cover states, stitched sections, a painted jacket, and bilingual text. The photographs are by Fregoso, the writing by Pacifico, and the translation by Piccolo; Setanta Books publishes the volume in 2025.
