Floating Worlds is a collaborative catalogue published for the eponymous exhibition at Foto-Forum Gallery in Bolzano. It brings together Daisuke Yokota’s “Linger” and Max Pinckers’ “Two Kinds of Memory and Memory Itself,” both of which explore the photographic representation of Japan. The publication physically manifests this dialogue through two separate books that are interwoven—their pages are folded alternately into one another—and wrapped in paper with a handprinted linocut title. The project examines the surfaces of photography and the limitations of two-dimensional images in shaping our understanding of cultural essence versus constructed cliché.
