Leave and Let Us Go

Leave and Let Us Go

Hardback hardcover English 324 pages

Description

Leave and Let Us Go brings together Alexandra Rose Howland’s photographs of Iraq, found images and written testimonies. Published by GOST Books in 2021, it seeks to expand the ways in which a country frequently misunderstood or misrepresented is seen and discussed.

The combination of material is central to the project. Howland’s photographs form one part of a broader account rather than standing alone as a definitive portrayal. Found images and testimony introduce other perspectives, supporting her stated aim of challenging how geopolitical events are communicated. The original makers of all the found photographs are not individually identified in the available catalogue credits.

The 324-page hardback appeared alongside an exhibition of the project at FOAM in Amsterdam, held from 17 September to 5 December 2021. The publisher notes that the book contains graphic imagery.
