Description

Los Alamos Revisited is the monumental three-volume boxed set that finally presents the full vision of William Eggleston’s most storied project. Between 1965 and 1974, Eggleston embarked on a series of road trips with curator Walter Hopps, starting in Memphis and traveling through the Mississippi Delta, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Southern California, eventually reaching the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. While a single-volume version was published in 2003, this Steidl edition is a “revisitation” that incorporates nearly 150 additional images found in long-lost archived boxes. The 250 color plates demonstrate Eggleston’s early mastery of the “democratic” lens, capturing neon signs, desolate gas stations, and the subtle textures of the American road. Printed with Steidl’s world-renowned attention to detail, this set is the most comprehensive record of the series that prefigured the modern color photography movement.
