The Way I See It is the first major retrospective monograph of Dutch photographer Pieter Henket, published to accompany his solo exhibition at the Museum de Fundatie. Known for his dramatic, Caravaggio-inspired lighting and cinematic staging, Henket’s work blurs the line between high-fashion photography and classical portraiture. The book features his most famous commissions, including the legendary portrait of Lady Gaga that defined her early career, alongside portraits of international celebrities like Eddie Redmayne, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Sir Ben Kingsley. Through these images, the volume explores Henket’s unique ability to capture a sense of “staged reality,” where every frame tells a larger-than-life narrative influenced by the Golden Age of Dutch painting and the glamour of modern Hollywood.
