Published in conjunction with a 1988 exhibition at Tokyo’s Gallery Min, this volume is Richard Misrach’s fourth major book. It provides a vital overview of his evolution as a color photography pioneer, featuring approximately 38 to 40 high-quality color plates. The selection spans several of his most influential bodies of work, including “Night Desert Photographs,” “Stonehenge,” “Greece,” “Louisiana,” and the early stages of his “Desert Cantos” and “Bravo 20” series. With an introduction by Myriam Weisang Misrach provided in both English and Japanese, the book captures the shift in Misrach’s perspective from the mystical, strobe-lit nocturnes of the 1970s to the politically charged environmental landscapes of the late 1980s.
