Guest edited by the acclaimed photographer Alec Soth, Aperture’s summer 2022 issue, “Sleepwalking,” explores the lyrical potential of photography through the lenses of dreams, journeys, and chance. The issue features a wide range of works, from the surrealist imagery of Soviet-era Czech artist Emila Medková to Sophie Calle’s photographic discovery of an abandoned Parisian hotel. It also includes an interview with Duane Michals on luck and fate, an exploration by Marina Warner on the figure of the sleepwalker in art, and a new section called “The PhotoBook Review” for deep engagement with contemporary photobooks.
