Photographic investigation of ancient forests and their ecological significance forms the core of Mitch Epstein’s Old Growth. The images adopt a contemplative approach, focusing on the dense textures and towering presence of old-growth trees, emphasizing themes of natural history and environmental endurance.

The collection’s mood is immersive and solemn, inviting reflection on the intersection between nature’s resilience and human impact. The 144 pages provide a measured visual narrative that captures the intricacies of forest ecosystems through carefully composed scenes.

Published by Steidl in 2026, this work adds a significant contribution to contemporary environmental photography.
