Ultimo Domicilio is a deeply evocative photography monograph by Italian artist Lorenzo Castore. Published by the boutique imprint L’Artiere, the book documents Castore’s visits to twelve abandoned houses across Europe and elsewhere over a period of fifteen years. From the war-torn ruins of Sarajevo to crumbling villas in Italy, these “last residences” are captured as psychological landscapes where the boundaries between the past and present dissolve. Castore focuses on the intimate details—a discarded shoe, a fading photograph, the play of light on a dusty floor—to evoke the presence of those who are no longer there. The result is a haunting meditation on the fragility of the domestic sphere and the persistent echo of human history within the spaces we inhabit.
