Paradiso is a visceral and cinematic photography monograph by Italian artist Lorenzo Castore. Published by Dewi Lewis, the book is the culmination of five years of nomadic documentation across Italy, Mexico, and Cuba. Castore’s high-contrast black-and-white imagery moves away from traditional reportage toward a “psychology of sight,” capturing fleeting moments of domestic life, passion, and urban decay. The title “Paradiso” ironically reflects the internal struggle to find beauty and peace within a fragmented and often harsh reality. Through its 120 pages, the volume offers a masterclass in the use of light and grain to evoke raw human emotion and the passing of time.
