Anaglypta 1980–2020 is an expansive, personal monograph by British artist Nick Waplington, presented as a “two-inch thick zine.” This 508-page volume offers a crisscrossing, non-linear journey through four decades of Waplington’s life across three continents. It contains 512 previously unpublished photographs, ranging from early black-and-white images processed in his school darkroom to contemporary digital captures. The work documents a wide array of subcultures and political movements, including the punk and rave scenes in London, the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York, and intimate “on the go” moments with friends and family. Driven by a rebel spirit and a need to belong, Waplington’s lens captures the raw energy of people and places, creating a visual archive that he describes as “whatever you want it to be.”
