Description

Kontinent is a joint thematic project by OSTKREUZ–Agency of Photographers, based in Berlin. The agency periodically selects a shared subject on which its members work over several years; Kontinent continues that series of group publications. In this project the participating photographers turn to contemporary Europe, with series addressing questions of identity and security, renationalization, migration and integration, and concepts such as humanism, democracy and freedom of expression. The book is published by Hartmann Books in a German/English edition, with texts by Johannes Odenthal, Falk Richter, Thomas Winkler and OSTKREUZ. It is issued on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin.

The publication is edited by OSTKREUZ–Agentur der Fotografen and Ingo Taubhorn in collaboration with the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, and designed by Neue Gestaltung, Berlin. It comprises 448 pages with approximately 200 illustrations and measures 19.9 × 25.4 cm. The binding is clothbound with foil stamping. Participating photographers include Jörg Brüggemann, Espen Eichhöfer, Sibylle Fendt, Johanna-Maria Fritz, Annette Hauschild, Harald Hauswald, Heinrich Holtgreve, Tobias Kruse, Ute Mahler, Werner Mahler, Dawin Meckel, Thomas Meyer, Frank Schinski, Jordis Antonia Schlösser, Ina Schoenenburg, Anne Schönharting, Linn Schröder, Stephanie Steinkopf, Mila Teshaieva, Heinrich Völkel, Maurice Weiss, Sebastian Wells and Sibylle Bergemann.
