Description

A comprehensive survey of Arnold Odermatt’s police photography, Im Dienst / En Service / On Duty presents an extensive visual archive capturing law enforcement activities across decades. Odermatt’s images document traffic incidents, accidents, and everyday moments with formal economy and stark realism.

The photobook spans 336 pages and reflects a commitment to methodical visual record-keeping, showing the interplay of order and chaos inherent in police duty. Odermatt’s work, originally commissioned for official purposes, reveals an austere aesthetic that elevates routine, often anonymous events to subjects of quiet contemplation.
